you’ve always had this need to run away. despite how good things might be going. or how stable life may seem. your tongue has grown numb to the sting of empty promises. you probably have loved too many people. too easily. almost like you were the promising shore to a worn out ship. only to become lost in the unpredictable tides. you’re the friend at the party who never says goodbye. you tip the bartender and leave before a thank you. in reality your heart is a lonely apartment in brooklyn soaked in the summer heat with every window open. or the hopeful promise of beautiful views on top of a mountain. some days the wind blows through all those windows and some days all that fog up there clears. but instead you drink too much and sleep too little. the inspiration comes in transient waves. but something about the ocean always drew you in.
